Texas is a non-disclosure state, meaning what you paid for your home is not public record and is only known by you and whoever was part of the sales process. The only information that is recorded as public record is what you financed. So how do third party websites estimate what your home is worth? It’s by the tax appraised value which is public record. However, the tax value and the MARKET value are never one in the same. Market value is based on what buyers have paid for property in your area that is similar to yours, many times referred to as “comps”. Never assume what the tax value is is what your home is worth. Before listing your property for sale talk to a professional real estate agent or broker and make sure your are pricing your property correctly. #marketvalue #taxes
